How the real-time speech-to-text API works
Gladia's real-time speech-to-text API streams live audio over a WebSocket connection and returns transcripts as people speak, with partial results in under 103ms. Each stream delivers word-level timestamps, automatic language detection, and code-switching across 100+ supported languages, plus real-time audio intelligence such as named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and custom vocabulary. For pre-recorded files, the Async API processes audio and video in batch instead.
